The cultivation of rice in Himachal Pradesh is concentrated in 10 districts. Out of which one district comes under medium productivity group, that is, yield ranging between 2,000-2,500 kg/ha. Triennium average area of this district was 0.026 lakh hectares, which was 3.2% of triennium average area (0.814 lakh hectares) under rice in the State. Triennium average production was 0.055 lakh tonnes, which was 4.5% of triennium average production (1.21 lakh tonnes) of rice in the State. Triennium average productivity of medium productivity group of one district was 2,115 kg/ha as against 1,486 kg/ha triennium average productivity of the State.
Triennium average area of medium-low productivity group (yield 1,500-2,000 kg/ha) comprising of two districts was 0.091 lakh hectares, which was 11.2% of triennium average area (0.814 lakh hectares) under rice in the State. Triennium average production was 0.153 lakh tonnes, which was 12.6% of average triennium production (1.21 lakh tonnes) of rice in the State.
