Triennium average productivity of high productivity group comprising of 4 districts was 3,068 kg/ha as against 2,241 kg/ha triennium average productivity of the state.

Triennium average area of medium productivity group (yield 2,000-2,500 kg/ha) comprising of one district was 0.293 lakh hectares, which was 11.5% of triennium average area (2.55 lakh hectares) under rice in the state triennium average production was 0.656 lakh tonnes, which was 11.5% of average triennium production (5.72 lakh tonnes) of the state. Triennium average productivity of medium productivity group in one district was 2,239 kg/ha as against 2,241 kg/ha triennium average productivity of the state.

Triennium average area of medium-low productivity group (yield 1,500-2,000 kg/ha) comprising of five districts was 1.09 lakh hectares, which was 42.7% of triennium average area (2.55 lakh hectares) under rice in the state. Triennium average production was 1.74 lakh tonnes, which was 30.4% of triennium average production (5.72 lakh tonnes) of the state. Triennium average productivity of medium low productivity group comprising of five districts was 1,596 kg/ha as against 2,241 kg/ha triennium average productivity of the state.

Triennium average area of low productivity group (yield 1,000-1,500 kg/ha) comprising of one district was 0.098 lakh hectares, which was 3.8% of triennium average area (2.55 lakh hectares) under rice in the state. Triennium average production was 0.121 lakh tonnes, which was 2.1% of triennium average production (5.72 lakh tonnes) of the state. Triennium average productivity of low productivity group in one district was 1,235 kg/ha as against 2,241kg/ha triennium average productivity of the state.

Triennium average area of very low productivity group (yield < 1000 kg/ha) comprising of one district was 0.04 lakh hectares, which was 1.6% of triennium average area (2.55 lakh hectares) under rice in the State. Triennium average production was 0.039 lakh tonnes, which was 0.7% of triennium average production (5.72 lakh tonnes) of the State. Triennium average productivity of very low productivity group comprising of one district was 975 kg/ha as against 2,241 kg/ha triennium average productivity of the state.

About 40% rice area is concentrated in high productivity group of the state and this group is contributing more than 55% production of total rice production in the state. The productivity of high productivity group of Jammu & Kashmir is 3,068 kg/ha, which is about 58% higher than the national average productivity of 1,947 kg/ha. Besides, average productivity (2,241 kg/ha) of the state is also higher than the national triennium average productivity of 1,947 kg/ha.
