State-wise Rice Productivity Analysis |
State : Tripura |
Rice is cultivated in four districts of Tripura. Out of which two districts each are falling under medium productivity group and medium low productivity groups.
Triennium average area of medium productivity group (yield 2,000-2,500 kg/ha) comprising of two districts was 1.73 lakh hectares, which was 71.2% of triennium average area (2.43 lakh hectares) under rice in the State. Triennium average production was 3.71 lakh tonnes, which was 73.6% of triennium average production (5.04 lakh tonnes) of rice in the State. Triennium average productivity of medium productivity group comprising of two districts was 2,144 kg/ha as against 2,074 kg/ha, triennium average productivity of the State.
Triennium average area of medium-low productivity group (yield 1,500-2,000 kg/ha) comprising of two districts was 0.70 lakh hectares, which was 28.8% of triennium average area (2.43 lakh hectares) under rice in the State. Triennium average production was 1.33 lakh tonnes, which was 26.4% of triennium average production(5.04 lakh tonnes) of rice in the State. Triennium average productivity of medium-low productivity group comprising of two districts was 1,900 kg/ha as against 2,074 kg/ha, triennium average productivity of the State.
About 71% of total area under rice in the State is concentrated in medium productivity group, which accounts for nearly 74% of total production of rice in the State. Irrigated rice area in the State is less than 20% but area coverage under high yielding varieties is about 85%. Triennium average productivity of rice in the State is 2,074 kg/ha as against 1,947 kg/ha triennium average productivity of the country.
Area, production and productivity of rice under different productivity groups in Tripura during triennium ending 2000-2001 are given in Table-23.
