Triennium average productivity of high productivity group comprising of seven districts was 2,755 kg/ha as against 2,393 kg/ha triennium average productivity of the State.
Triennium average area of medium productivity group (yield 2000-2500 kg/ha) comprising of seven districts was 3.23 lakh hectares, which was 30.1% of triennium average area (10.73 lakh hectares) under rice in the State. Triennium average production was 7.29 lakh tonnes, which was 28.4% of triennium average production (25.68 lakh tonnes) of rice in the State. Triennium average productivity of medium productivity group comprising of seven districts was 2,257 kg/ha as against 2,393 kg/ha triennium average productivity of the State.
Triennium average area of medium-low productivity group (yield 1500-2000 kg/ha) comprising of two districts was 1.91 lakh hectares, which was 17.8% of triennium average area (10.73 lakh hectares) under rice in the State. Triennium average production was 3.56 lakh tonnes, which was 13.9% of triennium average production (25.68 lakh tonnes) of rice in the State. Triennium average productivity of medium-low productivity group comprising of two districts was 1,864 kg/ha which was less than triennium average productivity (2,393 kg/ha) of the State.
Triennium average area of low productivity group (yield 1000-1500 kg/ha) comprising of two districts was 0.44 lakh hectares, which was 4.1% of triennium average area (10.73 lakh hectares) under rice in the State. Triennium average production was 0.64 lakh tonnes, which was 2.5% of triennium average production (25.68 lakh tonnes) of rice in the State. Triennium average productivity of low productivity group comprising of two districts was 1,455 kg/ha, as against 2,393 kg/ha triennium average productivity of the State.
Rice is grown in Haryana under well irrigated system. In fact, more than 99% rice crop is cultivated under irrigated condition and nearly 50% rice area is having high productivity, that is, more than 2,500 kg/ha. More than 55% production comes from high productivity group. Besides, average productivity (2,393 kg/ha) of the State is higher than the national average productivity of 1,947 kg/ha. More than 75% area is concentrated in high and medium productivity groups.
Area, production and productivity of rice under different productivity groups in Haryana during triennium ending 2000-2001 are given in Table-7.
